Our MSc in Management Consulting is designed to combine high-level academic learning with professional skills development.
As well as drawing on the latest research, we provide students with a critical understanding of the management consultancy industry - its history, structures and practices.
Students will also acquire the practical techniques and skills that are essential for a successful career in consulting or management.
可以给我们讲一下学习这个项目所涉及的主要领域吗？
We encourage students to think deeply and critically about the role and changing nature of the management consultancy industry. We also contextualise this by examining the wider socio-economic context within which consultants operate.
Complementing this, the more practical aspects of the course provide an opportunity to learn about the real-world challenges of being a management consultant and managing a consultancy company.
We also provide students with the opportunity to put these skills into practice during a live consulting project as part of the programme.

As one of the UK’s leading business schools, we have excellent links with regional, national and international consulting firms.
Students will benefit from these corporate connections through a series of guest lectures and workshops delivered by senior figures working within the management consulting industry. This will be an opportunity to gain first-hand insight into the latest developments.
As mentioned, there will also be an opportunity to work on a ‘real-life’ consulting project with a local or national firm in the third semester. Students will work in small project teams, acting as consultants to address a real management challenge, whilst learning about the practicalities of consultancy work.

The global credit crisis has had by far the biggest impact on the management consulting industry in recent history. Although this impact varied by sector and type of consulting service, global revenue overall declined. As the economy has picked up, large consulting firms in the UK are showing signs of growth. In the words of the Management Consulting Association, “Consulting is growing by helping others grow.”
Alongside this growth, significant changes are taking place in how consulting is bought. After the financial crisis, commoditisation and the contractor market grew. Clients often bought many of the capabilities they needed in the form of individual consultants, rather than project teams. Now, clients are seeking expertise to solve complex problems and secure outcomes through multi-disciplinary and multi-expert teams.
Another key development is the growing importance of digital, and the emerging role that management consultancies can play by combining digital opportunities with new ways of doing business.
