We are so excited to inform you that the following qualifications are now possible for the July 2024 intake for international students, along with scholarships offerings for those who start in July 2024.

Bachelor of Engineering with Honours (BE Hons)

We are pleased to announce a July intake for the Bachelor of Engineering with Honours. There are many benefits of students starting in the July 2024 intake including:

• A lower workload per semester when settling into the country making it easier for students to get comfortable with local culture and more time to make friends.

• Lower workload allows for students to achieve a better GPA.

• The option of an extra summer in New Zealand allows for more part-time work opportunities, meaning more work experience on their CV’s

The July 2024 intake does make the BE (Hons) degree a 4.5 year degree, but students will receive a UC Deans Award scholarship to the value of one course, meaning students will not pay anything more than students starting in the February intake.

Master of Strategic Communication (MStratCom)

The popular Master of Strategic Communication programme now as a July 2024 intake. This one-year Master is for those interested in working in media environments. Students who enrol in the July 2024 intake will receive a UC Deans Award scholarship to the value of 10% of the total tuition fees for the programme.

Master of International Relations and Diplomacy (MIRAD)

The Faculty of Arts is offering a new July 2024 intake for the Master of International Relations and Diplomacy. This one-year Masters is the programme for those interested in careers in foreign affairs or inter-state coordination and the Faculty of Arts is offering a UC Deans Award scholarship to the value of 10% of the total tuition fees for the programme for those who enrol in July 2024.

A reminder that Semester 2 starts on 15 July 2024. For any student who is starting in July 2024, for their visa application to be assessed in time by Immigration New Zealand and start in their programme in July 2024, it is strongly recommended that applications for visas are lodged before the 1 May 2024.

How to Apply?

If you have students who have deferred applications and hold full offers for the 2025 intake for any of these programmes and would want to enrol to a July 2024 intake and interested in UC’s Scholarship offerings, we request you to please apply to Login | Application to Enrol | UC (canterbury.ac.nz)

There is NO need to withdraw the previous application for 2025 Offer Holders. Applications received for July 2024 intake for the BE Hons, MStratCom and MIRAD with 2025 Offers will be considered as a separate application. The student’s application for 2025 will remain valid. This gives more flexibility for students to choose a better option to apply earlier for July 2024 with the scholarship offerings and other benefits as mentioned above.
