Support students to get their visa application right
Dear Partner,
Want to help your students to get their visa more efficiently? Here are some top tips from the Australian Department of Home Affairs:
1] Provide all information and documents the first time so the visa won't be held up.
2] Don't forget that documents need to be translated into English. Make sure the translator’s details are included on the translated document.
3] Check their name is spelt correctly and exactly matches their passport. Watch out for auto-correct!
4] If they're under 18,
as well as a copy of their own passport and birth certificate, they
must attach a copy of each of their parents' passports.
5] Submit application well ahead of time
and don’t book flights until after the visa has been granted
(students can grant agents or family members access to the visa
application).
6] Many visas to Australia require applicants to have a health examination. They can apply via the My Health Declarations Service (search ‘MHD’ on the Department’s website) and will have 28 days to arrange
this with a registered physician. They will not receive a reminder
notice, so if 28 days is not enough time, they need to contact the
Department via their ImmiAccount – otherwise their application may be declined.
*Please
remind students to respond to requests from the Department of Home
Affairs as soon as possible: the Department has noticed more student
visa applications being refused for not meeting the health requirement,
after not providing evidence of having completed a health examination*
7] Submit a current Confirmation of Enrolment,
known as a CoE, with their application. If their course start date has
passed, they’ll need to submit an updated CoE with the new
start date.
8] Opt-in to receive electronic communication from the Department of Home Affairs. They should check their ImmiAccount regularly for updates as this is where messages will be sent – including any requests for further information.
*If
asked for biometric data, such as a photo or fingerprints, it is
important to get them collected quickly to avoid any delays*
Support your students to get it right the first time for a faster visa process.
