You’ll learn the fundamental laws, physical principles and applications of materials on this wide-reaching MSc. This programme will cover advanced concepts and techniques, leaving you well prepared for further doctoral level study. The programme also develops skills you can transfer to a wide range of careers. You’ll complete a specialist independent research project, under the supervision of an academic with research interests in a similar area to your own. You’ll develop a sophisticated understanding of research methodology, and how to manage your own research, making use of journal articles and other primary sources. You’ll join a thriving, friendly research community, with a busy schedule of research seminars, colloquia, meetings and workshops (as well as regular social events), so you can make the most of the specialist research skills you’ll develop on this course. As a Queen Mary student, you’ll also be able to take physics modules from University College London, King's College London or Royal Holloway University of London, at the programme director's discretion.
