Thank you for all your support ahead of our upcoming intakes.
As a valued partner, we are writing to you to provide an update on some important changes to our course portfolio.
Over the last three months, the University has been undertaking an extensive review of the courses we offer future students. The review has been designed to help us understand how we can better meet the needs of our current students, as well as future students, and of employers in the region and beyond.
As a result, the University has decided to stop new students from enrolling onto the following courses from the 2026/27 academic year onwards:
Black Studies and Global Justice MA
BIM and Digital Construction MSc
Conservation of the Historic Environment MA/PgDip/PgCert
Design and Visualisation MA
Design Management MA
Interior Architecture and Design MA
Landscape Architecture MA
Master of Landscape Architecture (MLA)
Planning Built Environments MA
This means there will be no more new intakes for these courses.
Some of our international applicants will be impacted by this decision, and we will be writing to them directly to inform them of the relevant course closures today, but we wanted to share this information with you directly as well.
Please rest assured that this is not a decision that we have taken lightly. A range of factors were considered, including student recruitment trends over recent years, the sustainability of cohort sizes over time, and wider market demand within the current higher education landscape. The University remains committed to supporting advanced study in Black Studies, Architecture, Built Environment and related fields, and we are actively exploring opportunities for alternative provision in these areas.
We will provide as much advice and guidance as possible to support applicants in identifying an alternative opportunity, and we will action any deferral or course change requests at the earliest opportunity once applicants advise us of their intentions.
Thank you for your understanding.
