| | Dear Representative,
Welcome to the April 2026 edition of the Bournemouth University (BU) Newsletter.
In this issue, we share important updates on Confirmation of Acceptance of Studies (CAS) issuance and required actions.
Please kindly forward this newsletter to your branch offices and counsellors supporting BU applicants. |
Actions required for CAS issuance |
We currently have a swift processing turnaround time for applications. Any delays are typically due to applications requiring academic review or where information is incomplete.
We will begin issuing CAS from the end of April, so please ensure your unconditional offer holders are preparing in advance to avoid delays.
To be eligible for a CAS, students must:
Firmly accept their offer and pay the required deposit (Students must include their 7-digit BU ID number when making payment to ensure quick allocation) Complete all outstanding actions on myHub, including:
- Uploading required documents (e.g. academic references) - Completing declarations (e.g. criminal convictions) Provide required information and documents via CAS Shield (Enroly) Successfully complete a pre-CAS interview, if invited.
We will not be able to issue a CAS until all the above steps have been completed. |
Once students have paid their deposit, they will receive an email inviting them to access CAS Shield, where they can begin preparing for CAS issuance.
We strongly encourage students to complete all required steps in CAS Shield as early as possible to reduce turnaround times and allow more time for visa applications.
Our webpage provides a step-by step guide outlining what students need to complete. |
Some students will be invited to complete a pre-CAS interview, which simulates a UKVI credibility interview.
It is important that students treat this as a formal interview. To be successful, students should:
Demonstrate a clear understanding of the questions Provide clear, relevant and structured answers Base responses on their own research and reasons for choosing BU Support answers with examples or details.
We recommend students complete their interview as soon as possible to avoid delays in CAS issuance. |
Supporting pre-CAS interviews: guidance for agents |
Agents play an important role in supporting students through this process. We have prepared a guidance document to help you prepare students effectively without providing scripted answers or coaching.
Please ensure that you:
Should: Guide and encourage students to conduct their own research Reinforce the importance of authentic and genuine answers Support students in understanding key areas of focus
Must not: Provide scripted answers or coaching Rehearse interview responses Speak on behalf of the student
|
A reminder that from 7 April 2026, UKVI requires universities to record agent details on the CAS where a student has been recruited through an agent.
To support this, we have updated our systems to ensure the correct agent branch office is recorded for each application. Agents and applicants will be able to select the relevant branch office during the application process or via a clearance check, which will then be automatically linked to the application.
Please ensure the correct branch office is selected to avoid delays in CAS issuance.
Further details and guidance can be found in our guidance document. |
Thank you for your continued support and partnership in helping students pursue their studies at Bournemouth University.
Kind regards, Bournemouth University International Recruitment Division |
