I'm pleased to introduce you to the New Zealand Diploma in Sport, Recreation and Exercise (Level 5 and Level 6) offered by NorthTec. These qualifications are designed for students who are passionate about sport, health, and physical activity and are looking to develop a professional career in the sport, recreation, or fitness industries.
New Zealand Diploma in Sport, Recreation and Exercise (Level 5)
This programme provides students with an academic pathway into the sport science industry. It is designed to equip students with the essential knowledge and practical skills required to enter the fitness, sport, or recreation industry or to progress to higher-level study.
Upon completing this qualification, graduates will be equipped to apply integrated knowledge, concepts, and emerging trends from the sport, recreation, and exercise sectors to support informed professional practice. They will be capable of leading and managing a variety of tasks and activities within their scope of practice, including supervising others to maintain safe, ethical, and professional standards.
Additionally, graduates will be able to design, coordinate, and evaluate a wide range of sport, recreation, and/or exercise programmes and events that meet the needs of individuals, groups, and communities.
On successful completing of this qualification you can study for the NZ Diploma in Sport and Recreation and Exercise (Level 6).
New Zealand Diploma in Sport, Recreation and Exercise (Level 6)
This Level 6 programme is designed for students who have already completed a Level 5 qualification in sport, recreation, or exercise and are looking to advance their expertise and career prospects within the fitness, sport, and recreation industries.
This programme provides students with an academic pathway into the sport science industry. You will gain an indepth knowledge and skills required to operate in leadership roles across the sport, recreation and exercise industry, get to work in the community through work integrated research.
Upon completion of the programme, graduates will be able to operate within a health and wellness framework that addresses the needs of individuals, groups, and communities. They will be equipped for higher level or specialised roles and capable of providing strategic leadership and management to ensure the safe and effective execution of tasks that support outcomes in sport, recreation, and exercise. Graduates will have the skills to design, implement, and asses a variety of activities, programs, and events tailored to diverse user needs within these settings. They will also be able to apply and evaluate exercise science concepts and theories to develop effective health and wellness solutions. Furthermore, graduates will be competent in managing, monitoring, and critically assessing coaching practices, with the ability to suggest improvements to enhance coaching strategies in sport, recreation, and exercise environments.
On successful completion of this qualification you can study for the Bachelor of Sport awarded by AUT but taught on NorthTec Campus here in Whangarei. All credits gained in this programme credits can be used towards the Bachelor of Sport and Recreation.
