We’re pleased to share an important update about Flinders University’s course offerings for 2026. These changes are part of our ongoing commitment to improving the student experience and simplifying course structures across the University.

What’s changing?

From 2026, many Flinders courses will adopt a simplified and standardised structure. These updates are designed to give students greater flexibility, a more consistent experience, and expanded study options. These changes will initially impact Flinders undergraduate courses from Semester 1, 2026.

Key changes for undergraduate courses include:

• A common first-year structure across modular courses
• Introduction of specialisations as a new 72-unit component
• Specialisations, majors and minors typically starting from second year
• A minimum number of core topics across courses
• More areas of study available within some courses
• Unified course codes across multiple locations, including the City Campus

What this means for students

• New students starting in 2026 will benefit from clearer pathways, more choice, and a streamlined enrolment experience.
• Current students (2025 or earlier) will remain in their existing course structures. It’s important to check which version of a course a student is enrolled in before giving advice.

What this means for agents

We recommend agents:

• Familiarise yourselves with the 2026 course structures via StudyLink and the Flinders Handbook (from October).
• Be aware that course codes and structures may differ between 2025 and 2026 intakes.
• Use the FAQ page to help guide conversations with students. This page will be regularly updated with key information.

Timeline

• Changes apply to undergraduate course students commencing in Semester 1, 2026.

• Applications for courses with changes will be reviewed and offer letters will be reissued as required in the coming weeks.
