Welcome to our May Agent newsletter!

After a well-deserved mid-semester break enjoying Adelaide’s beautiful autumn weather, our students are back on campus—learning, connecting, and creating lasting memories within the Flinders community. With Study Period 2 and Semester 2 fast approaching, we’re excited to share some important updates and news with you, as well as highlight upcoming key dates.

Key Dates: Semester 2 and Study Period 2, 2025

Midyear is right around the corner so we ask that you please take the time to review the key Semester 2 and Study Period 2, 2025 dates — including applicationacceptancepayment, and CoE deadlines.

At Flinders, we’re committed to ensuring every student has a smooth and stress-free start to their journey. To help make this possible, we kindly ask that you submit complete applications as early as possible. This allows ample time for offer processing, visa approvals, and travel planning.

Students applying for midyear entry may also benefit from the current, potentially lower visa application fees — which could increase in 2026.

There's still time for your students to study with Flinders in 2025!

Flinders University now has availability for your students to start studying this October in selected courses. The October intake is extended to both new applicants, and existing applicants who missed the July commencement.

Choose from courses in Business, Social Work or Information Technology to start studying this October.

Flinders' Work Integrated Learning Program Named 2024 Award Winner!

Flinders University’s STEM Work Integrated Learning (WIL) team was recently awarded a 2024 Award for Programs that Enhance Learning as part of the Australian Awards for University Teaching (AAUT).

This national recognition places our WIL team among Australia’s most outstanding university teachers. It underlines their exceptional contribution to student learning, demonstrated through their commitment to quality teaching. The award panel also noted our WIL program’s key strengths such as sustained positive impact on student learning, robust evaluation framework, and commitment to flexibility and inclusivity across STEM disciplines. Additionally, its comprehensive feedback mechanisms and sector recognition from accrediting bodies reinforce its excellence and ongoing contribution to student success.

Did you know?

Flinders is the only university in Australia to exceed Engineers Australia’s placement requirement—offering 20 weeks of compulsory undergraduate placement, and 12 weeks for postgraduates—the longest in the country.

Course Spotlight: Graduate Certificate in Society and the Individual

Our Graduate Certificate in Society and the Individual course is designed to boost students' professional career in the Australian human service and welfare sectors. It may be used as a pathway to the Master of Social Work (Graduate Entry) to secure a position as a social worker.

The program teaches students to understand Australian society, how it has developed and is organised. Students will also develop the skills to apply psychological and sociological understandings of human development.

Offered – in person – at our beautiful Bedford Park campus, this course can lead to potential employment pathways including community worker, youth worker, welfare administrator and many more careers.

Meet Anne, Master of Social Work Student

For Anne, making a difference in the world is a dream she is determined to make a reality. Originally from China, her drive to support marginalised and vulnerable communities led her across the world to Adelaide, where she’s now studying a Master of Social Work at Flinders University.

She chose Flinders for its strong academic foundation and real-world experience, knowing it would prepare her to thrive as a professional. “Securing a job after graduation is very important to me,” Anne says. “That’s why I ultimately chose Flinders University.”

The two-year degree includes 12 diverse topics and 500 hours of practical placement, allowing students like Anne to gain the skills and experience needed to make a real difference in the community.
