Registration now open We understand many applicants joining us this January are waiting on their visas so they can travel. While they are waiting, they should be completing their online section of Herts registration so that they have less outstanding actions by the time their visa is approved. Online registration is available now and applicants will have received an email from Herts confirming their username and password so they can begin the process. The emails come from a herts.ac.uk email account, however they may have been routed into the applicants spam/junk folder depending on their inbox settings. Please help us to encourage your applicants to check for these emails and follow the instructions to progress through their registration stages. The start dates and deadlines are available online. |

|
Update us on applicants arrival plans We ask applicants to keep us updated on their visa situation and travel plans via our Overseas Arrival Form. We would be grateful if you can encourage your applicants joining us this January to complete this. Applicants can complete the form as many times as they wish to keep us updated on their changing situation. |

Innovative designs by Herts students to help transform The Galleria Shopping Centre |
Innovative, new shopfront concepts created by University of Hertfordshire students will soon transform The Galleria Shopping Centre in Hatfield, after hugely impressing its new owners with their fresh vision. Students studying BA Interior Architecture and Design (IAD) at the University were tasked by the Shopping Centre’s new investors, to help the team refresh the mall’s interiors. A seven-week live project to develop some new concepts was created with compelling results. Herts tutors then shortlisted the five strongest designs created by Iryna Gavryliuk, Biju Pournami, Macy Porch, Lorena Cama and Cerys Jane Hills, for them to present to their client. Iryna, who was named the overall winner of the design project, impressed The Galleria management so much with her innovative proposal [pictured above] that they offered her a full-time apprenticeship with the company. She will also receive a £500 shopping voucher as the project winner. Read more... |
| Innovative art project revealing hidden soundscape of cardiac surgery an overseas success |
A pioneering sound-based exhibition by a University of Hertfordshire academic, revealing the hidden soundscape of cardiac surgery, has attracted hundreds of visitors during its run in Malaysia. Pulse, developed by Rob Godman, Reader in Music at the University’s School of Creative Arts, in collaboration with Dr Giampaolo Martinelli, Consultant Cardiothoracic Anaesthetist at Barts Health NHS Trust, uses real-time audio recordings to capture the ambient sounds during major surgical procedures. It’s been on show at Kuala Lumpur’s Multimedia University as part of their Evolving Matter: Artistic Process as Experimental Inquiry exhibition, and applauded for bridging the gap between science and art. Although the research is ongoing, initial observations highlighted a need for greater understanding of how noise affects both staff and patients in surgical and intensive care environments.
