Dear Partner,

The University has been closely monitoring how visa and immigration policies have been implemented by the Home Office and UKVI over recent intakes. Recent changes to how university compliance with immigration policy is measured, and the potential impacts on our ongoing ability to sponsor international students, have required a review of our recruitment position, processes, and policies to ensure we remain a safe choice for genuine students seeking to study in the UK. A significant increase in credibility-based visa refusals across the sector has placed considerable pressure on universities to take proactive measures to ensure that our applicants are genuine, prepared, and credible in their intent to study with us. In parallel, we are obliged to ensure that our recruitment partners are fulfilling their obligations under the Agent Quality Framework in submitting applications and counselling genuine students appropriately for their intended studies with Huddersfield.

In that regard, we have taken the difficult decision to close applications for our May 2026 intake to review our current applicant pipeline, to work with our partners to minimise increased risk of visa refusals, and to ensure our policies and processes remain robust and supportive of genuine students applying to study with us.

The closure detail is as follows:

• Applications for May 2026 (all courses) will close at 5pm on Monday 23^rd February 2026

• Conditions deadline for existing applicants remains as 3^rd April 2026

• Applications already in progress will be reviewed to identify and manage potential visa refusal risk for this intake

We understand that this may cause some concern for potential applicants and your counselling teams, but this decision is unavoidable in maintaining our established position as a trusted Student Sponsor.
