Greetings from the University of Nottingham Malaysia.
Please find below the updated TOEFL iBT equivalency table for your reference.
The revised TOEFL iBT score equivalencies apply to applicants who have taken the test from February 2026 onwards. These updates have been reviewed and approved by the Centre for English Language Education (CELE) and will be implemented across all three campuses.
Please note that previous TOEFL iBT scoring will remain applicable where relevant.
Updated English Language Equivalency
IELTS (Academic) | TOEFL iBT (From Feb 2026) |
5.5 (with no less than 5.0 in each element) | 4.0 (with no less than 3.5 in each element) |
6.0 (with no less than 5.5 in each element) | 4.5 (with no less than 4.0 in each element) |
6.5 (with no less than 6.0 in each element) | 4.5 (with no less than 4.5 in each element) |
7.0 (with no less than 6.0 in each element) | 5.0 (with no less than 4.5 in each element) |
