Fast-track admissions process We are delighted to share that from mid-April we will be launching a fast-tracked admissions process for selected postgraduate programmes. This pilot will run in key markets including China, India, Kenya and Nigeria.This means that decisions for most applications will be made within three working days, provided the fee status questionnaire has been completed, and the applicant meets the advertised entry requirements including the relevant subject requirements, as outlined on the programme webpage. We hope these improved turnaround times will support your efforts to grow your applicant pool for Surrey. View the full list of eligible courses. Surrey refund policy update We’re pleased to introduce an improved refund policy designed to give your students even greater confidence when planning their postgraduate studies with Surrey. From September 2026, any student who pays their deposit before their CAS is issued will be eligible for a full, refund if their plans change. All they need to do is complete a simple refund request form as soon as their plans have changed, and we will process their refund within four weeks.This change to our refund policy means your students can secure their place early, begin preparing for their CAS in good time, and move forward with Surrey’s admission and CAS journey with peace of mind. Students who request a refund after receiving their CAS will incur a £150 administrative fee, with the remaining balance returned to them.View our updated refund policy. Free for Surrey applicantsCompliance is a key priority at Surrey, and our Admissions Team is now working with a trusted organisation, Qualification Check, to verify academic documents. This service will be used for applications from higher risk recruitment regions, or in cases where qualifications cannot be verified through standard methods. If a student is required to use the service, our Admissions Team will notify them directly. Students will upload their documents for review, and once completed, a summary report will confirm whether the documents are genuine. This service is offered to applicants free of charge. Any student who has already paid for Qualification Check will have this amount applied as a fee reduction through their scholarship. Please contact us with details of any affected student cases. Arriving to Surrey on time in September During our February intake, visa delays affected some students’ ability to arrive on time, leading to more deferral requests for September. To help students avoid delays, we will share practical guidance on completing CAS Shield applications, obtaining ATAS certificates, and preparing for Pre-CAS interviews. Please note an important change to Surrey's PGT applications deadline - now 24 July 2026 - listed in the table below. CAS dates have been amended in line with this, along with a new scholarship deadline of 3 August.Our International Team is here to support you. The most effective way to ensure students arrive in September is to start early — from paying deposits and submitting scholarship applications to securing accommodation. Please contact your regional team for tailored support. UKVI Compliance Update UKVI will introduce a stricter BCA framework, including a new Red-Amber-Green (RAG) rating system. Universities will be assessed against three core metrics: visa refusal rates (below 5%, with under 4% required to increase CAS allocation), enrolment rates (minimum 95%), and course completion rates (minimum 85%, rising to 90% from 2027). Performance is determined by the lowest metric. An amber rating will cap growth, while a red rating will result in a minimum 10% reduction in CAS and formal UKVI action.We want to reassure you that, together, we have a strong track record of high compliance 'green'. Enhancements such as Qualification Check are in place to support application quality, protect refusal rates, and ensure we remain within the 4% threshold. As partners, your role is key—submitting genuine, well-prepared students with clear study intent and complete documentation. By continuing to focus on quality, we can maintain compliance and grow sustainably together.We will be taking steps in higher risk markets such as Bangladesh to ensure that applicants must use an agent. You play a vital role in supporting students with their application journey and our goal is to give you the tools you need to guide your students through this process. We’ve put together a list of key dates to keep you and your students get organised for the September intake. Plus we invite you to join one of our Pre-Departure Webinars taking place in July and August.What is University Clearing? Clearing is an opportunity for undergraduate applicants, who have missed their offer conditions, or changed their mind at the last minute about the university or course they want to study, to explore other available options. Clearing at Surrey matches applicants to our courses that still have availability. It’s open to undergraduate UCAS applicants, who:haven’t received any offers yet or don’t want to accept offers receivedhaven’t met the conditions of their offerapplicants who declined their firm place on the UCAS applicationapplicants who have had a last-minute change of heart about their university or their course and would like to explore other optionsIf your students have not made a UCAS application this year, you can support them by helping them register on the UCAS website.   Also, check out Surrey’s Clearing pages.When does Clearing start at Surrey?   If your students have their exam results, they can apply for a course at Surrey through Clearing from 5 July 2025.What courses are available for Clearing at Surrey? For the most up-to-date list of courses available through Clearing, head to the Surrey’s Clearing pages. Information will be regularly updated with the details of courses that still have availability. It’s worth noting that Guildford School of Acting, School of Veterinary Medicine and Medicine will NOT be entering clearing as programmes delivered in these schools are currently full.Can international students apply through Clearing?   International students can apply to an available course through Clearing at Surrey.Can international students apply for a scholarship if they are using Clearing?   Yes. Surrey’s required grades to secure a scholarship are ABB. Check out our scholarship pages to learn more about eligibility criteria.What is the difference between ‘Clearing’ and ‘Clearing Plus’?   Clearing gives students the opportunity to explore every course at every university which is available through UCAS. Clearing Plus focuses on a smaller portfolio of courses tailored to students’ UCAS application and preferences.Results Day Our Admissions team will process results as quickly as possible, and we recommend your offer holders check their UCAS Hub to see any updates on their application. If students have firmly accepted their conditional offer but have not satisfied the exact conditions, we will review their offer, and the performance of others seeking entry onto the same course. UK Immigration White Paper, May 2025 In May, the Home Office published the Immigration White Paper; we welcome the Government’s decision to retain the Graduate Route. Here at Surrey, we are proud of our international students. International students enrich the diverse cosmopolitan culture of the UK and the University of Surrey.  Rebecca Hill, Director of International Recruitment at Surrey, was in the House of Lords last week discussing the White Paper, and we wanted to share some of the key messages to help you, and your students, stay informed of the changes being proposed. Please be assured we are keeping the dialogue open, and there is currently no timeline for implementation or revision of the White Paper.  Changes to Graduate VisaGraduate Immigration Route - 18 months for all graduates, with a focus on graduates transitioning to graduate-level jobs.  Did you know? 94% of Surrey international graduates are in employment or further study, with an average salary of £35,795, 15 months after graduating. (Graduate Destinations Survey 2024, Higher Education Statistics Agency) Changes to student visa system  Basic Compliance Assessment (BCA) thresholds raising by 5%. We must maintain a course enrolment rate of at least 95% and a course completion rate of 90% in order to pass the compliance threshold and a new Red-Amber-Green system to rate the BCA performance of each sponsor.  Agent Quality Framework Surrey committed to the pledge in 2024, and we will continue to work closely with you to integrate the AQF into our agent management. Supporting entrepreneurship  The Government will review the Innovator Founder visa to offer support for nurturing entrepreneurial talent currently studying at UK universities.
