Visa-Update: New Post-Study Work OptionsImmigration New Zealand has announced upcoming changes to graduate work rights to better align international education with workforce needs. From late 2026, a new Short Term Graduate Work Visa will be introduced, providing eligible graduates with up to 6 months of open work rights to seek employment and transition to longer-term work visas. In addition, Post-Study Work Visa eligibility will be extended to Graduate Diploma (Level 7) graduates who also hold a bachelor’s degree. The visa duration will reflect the time spent studying in New Zealand, up to 12 months. These changes aim to strengthen graduate employment pathways while supporting continued growth in international education. Please review the full announcement here.
