connectUC Change of Application

We are excited to share our agents are now able to request a change of qualification and subjects for their student applications via connectUC BEFORE a full offer of place has been generated. Email Address for General Queries

From 1 May 2026 we will be changing our contact email for international queries from IRO@canterbury.ac.nz to International@canterbury.ac.nz. Please update your records to ensure a smooth transition.

UC Recognised for Employability Leadership

UC has received two national awards recognising its leadership in work‑integrated learning and employability. Presented at an international symposium bringing together global sector leaders, the awards highlight UC’s innovative approach to connecting students with real‑world industry and community experiences through initiatives like the Professional and Community Engagement (PACE) internship programme and strong external partnerships. English for Academic Purposes (EAP)

UC offers English for Academic Purposes (EAP 1 and EAP 2) programmes designed to help international students meet the English language requirements for further study in New Zealand. Delivered on campus by UC’s preferred English language provider, Christchurch College of English (CCEL), these programmes build the academic English skills needed to confidently progress to undergraduate or postgraduate study at UC. For more info, please contact CCEL or your market manager.

TOEFL Score Scale Update

In January, TOEFL introduced an updated score scale (from 1-6 in increments of 0.5) and our English language requirements have been updated accordingly. Click here for more details about the English language test results required to study at UC.

The University of Canterbury is heading to China from 10–16 May for a series of four Open Day events—offering a fantastic opportunity to explore study options, connect with UC senior leaders and academic experts, and support your students’ international study journey. Need to know!

High Achievers Scholarships (HAS) for India, China, and Southeast Asia

Applications closed for Semester 2 2026 start. Our Scholarships team will issue the HAS awards to successful applicants on 11 May and the deadline for awardees to accept their award will be 18 May. Applicants will have one week to accept the scholarship offer if selected. For more information, please contact your market manager or the UC Scholarships Office.

Study Intentions in Applications

Please be reminded that study intentions or statements of purpose must be genuine for our faculties to assess students’ suitability for the programme. Kindly ensure these are obtained from your students prior to submission, and that each statement is unique.

Master of Health Sciences (Nursing)

Our faculty is assessing applications for 2027 and arranging interviews as they process applications this year. Any students for whom English is not their primary language will be required to complete an interview with a faculty member of the programme. Apply now for 2027!

International Deans Awards

Students will automatically be assessed at time of application and, if eligible, will be sent a Deans Award offer along with their Offer of Place. Students can accept their full Offer of Place in myUC and this will be tied to accepting their Deans Award. They must accept their full offer within 2 weeks of receiving it to be eligible for their award. For qualifications with Special Programme Fees, students must pay the full tuition fees for the whole qualification. This award is not deferrable to another year.

Commission Payment (March – July start)
