| | | We proudly marked this year’s April graduation season with a vibrant series of ceremonies across our Hamilton and Tauranga campuses. Over the course of 16 individual ceremonies, we honoured the hard work, resilience and accomplishments of our graduating students as they crossed the stage and stepped into the next chapter of their lives. Each ceremony was a moment to reflect on their dedication, acknowledge the support of whānau and friends, and celebrate the diverse journeys that brought them to this milestone. It was a powerful reminder of the talent and potential within our student community, and a chance for all of us to share in their success.
We also want to acknowledge the vital role our global partners play in our students’ success. Your support, encouragement, and advocacy have helped shape the achievements we celebrated on graduation day. We deeply appreciate your ongoing partnership and extend our sincere thanks to everyone who contributed to each graduate’s journey. |

| We are also delighted to share a special video message from our past alumni, created especially for our newest graduates. It’s a heartfelt welcome into a lifelong network of learners, leaders, and changemakers and a reminder that graduation is not an ending, but the beginning of an exciting new chapter. |

| | | | The University of Waikato has achieved its strongest performance yet in the 2026 QS World University Rankings by Subject, earning placements in 17 of the 55 subject areas assessed, more than 25% of all possible categories.
A standout result came in the broad field of Social Sciences and Management, where Waikato climbed over 100 places, rising from 394 to 287. This area includes many of the University’s ranked subjects, reflecting growing strength in teaching, research, and global reputation.
Several narrow subject areas saw notable gains. Waikato re‑entered the rankings for Hospitality and Leisure Management (151-175 band) and English Language and Literature (251-300 band), and entered the rankings for the first time in Linguistics (251-300 band). Strong improvements were also recorded in Education (201-250), Psychology (251-300) and Computer Science and Information Systems (451-500), each moving up a ranking band.
Key subjects maintaining top‑tier global performance include Sports-related subjects (101–150), Philosophy (201-225), Geography (201-250), and Accounting and Finance (201-250), all sitting within the top 250 worldwide.
Domestically, by band, Waikato ranks second equal in Education and third equal in Business, Sociology, Psychology, and Computer Science, reinforcing the University’s strong position within New Zealand. |
