A Trimester Update

We are delighted to welcome new degree students and study abroad and exchange students for A Trimester 2024. This year we are welcoming a larger cohort of new students than in previous years. 2024 is off to a strong start, with increased enrolments for our Nursing, Psychology and Law programmes. 

We are so pleased to have our returning international students back on campus, and to welcome so many new international students to our community. We have an exciting year ahead with new initiatives, events and opportunities to make an impact in our community and society. 

We would like to take this opportunity to express our appreciation to all of our valued partners for your ongoing support. 


2024-2025 prospectuses

The digital version of 2024 - 2025 International Prospectus is available on our University Prospectus Download page. Please feel free to click the link to download. The digital version of the 2024-2025 Chinese Prospectus will be ready in April.

This year we have changed the format of our prospectus and consolidated the qualification information into a handy table format. Our website continues to be the best resource for detailed information on our qualifications. We are also working on updating our website and later in April you will see a new refreshed version.

Printed copies of our prospectus will be sent to your offices in the next few weeks.

New intake for University of Waikato College's Pre-Masters programme

We are excited to share that due to strong demand, applications for a February intake of the University of Waikato College's popular Diploma in Postgraduate Preparation – Pre-Masters (DipPP) in 2025 at University of Waikato College are now open. This is a fantastic opportunity for students who aspire to excel in a pathway to postgraduate study and embark on a transformative educational journey.

The Diploma in Postgraduate Preparation – Pre-Masters (DipPP) is a stepping stone to postgraduate studies at the University of Waikato to prepare students who have a tertiary qualification but do not meet the academic entry criteria for direct entry to a master’s programme. DipPP provides the English language, academic literacies, and personal and professional skills students will need to progress to postgraduate studies at the world top ranked University of Waikato. Application for students can be submitted on Navitas’ StudyLink Connect’s Partner Portal

HECS B2024 intake application progress

We would like to provide an update on applications processing for our Division of Health, Engineering, Computing and Science (HECS) programmes for July 2024 start.

We are currently experiencing delays in the processing of applications for HECS programmes, due to unprecedented demand and resourcing challenges within the Division. We are working closely with the Division to find a solution and look forward to providing a positive outcome as soon as we can. Please accept our sincere apologies for any delays you are experiencing.

University of Waikato has the cheapest fully-catered accommodation in NZ

Living in university halls are seen as a rite of passage for some, where young adults start their tertiary studies, making memories and friendships. But like many things in 2024, the price to stay on campus has never been higher.

The news article finds that Waikato University has the cheapest fully catered accommodation at just under $15,000 per year.Our Hamilton campus has a range of different accommodation options available for all students and lifestyles. From our halls of residence that offer full support to aid your transition into university life, to Silverdale apartments and Orchard Park that offer an independent lifestyle and the convenience of living on campus, you will find a room that will suit your needs. At the Tauranga campus, our new University-managed accommodation complex consists of 88 standard and 3 accessibility studio rooms.

Agent Training

Generic Agent Training


To help our valued recruitment partners to become more familiar with our university and understand our systems, we offer online training to all new onboarding agents and new staff of our existing partners. 

Includes highlights of our university, scholarship information, and how to use our agent portal and agent toolkit. 

Date: Monthly on the first Wednesday. The next session is scheduled on Wednesday, 3rd April.

Time: 4pm-4:45pm NZDT**NB: Registration is required to attend the training section**

Full Moon Day of Tabaung- Myanmar - Sunday, 24 MarchFull Moon Day of Tabaung in Myanmar is a Buddhist holiday that comes on the full moon of the third month of the Burmese Calendar. That normally corresponds to sometime in March on the Gregorian Calendar.
Holi - India - Monday, 25 March Holi is a popular and significant Hindu festival celebrated as the Festival of Colours, Love, and Spring. It celebrates the eternal and divine love of the deities Radha and Krishna. Additionally, the day signifies the triumph of good over evil, as it commemorates the victory of Vishnu as Narasimha over Hiranyakashipu. Hope you had a Holi filled with love, laughter, and many colourful moments.
Good Friday and Easter- Friday, 29 March - Sunday, 31 MarchGood Friday is the day in which Christian and Catholic churches commemorate the crucifixion and death of Jesus Christ. Easter, also called Resurrection Sunday, commemorates the resurrection of Jesus from the dead on the third day after his Crucifixion. Wishing you a blessed Easter filled with love, peace, and happiness! The University will be closed to observe the public holidays until we return on Wednesday, 3 April. 
Chakri Day- Thailand - Saturday, 6 AprilThailand observes Chakri Memorial Day as a public holiday on April 6th every year. Officially known as “King Buddha Yodfa Chulaloke the Great Day and Chakri Dynasty Memorial Day,” this holiday commemorates the establishment of the Chakri Dynasty by King Rama I in 1782, over two centuries ago.
Daylight Savings Time ends- Sunday, 7 AprilWhen local daylight time is about to reach Sunday, 7 April 2024, 3:00:00 a.m. clocks are turned backward 1 hour to Sunday, 7 April 2024, 2:00:00 a.m. local standard time instead.
Day of Valor- Philippines - Tuesday, 9 AprilThe Day of Valor, officially known as Araw ng Kagitingan, is a national observance in the Philippines which commemorates the fall of Bataan to Japanese troops during World War II.
Songkran Day - Saturday, 13 April - Monday 15 AprilReferred to as the traditional New Year for Buddhist calendar, the main focus is about moving forward. The word Songkran comes from Sanskrit word Sankranti meaning “passage of the sun.” Water symbolises washing away the previous year so people can get ready for the next one. It is celebrated in Bangladesh, Cambodia (Khmer new Year), Laos, Myanmar (Thingyan), Sri Lanka, Thailand, parts of northeast India, parts of Vietnam and Xishuangbanna, China. Happy Songkran Festival!
