The University of Waikato is proud to launch New Zealand’s first graduate-entry pharmacy programme: the Master of Pharmacy Practice (MPharmPrac). This innovative two-year, 240-point master's degree offers an accelerated pathway for students with a relevant bachelor's degree to become registered pharmacists. Designed to address the pharmacy workforce shortage in Aotearoa New Zealand, the programme combines rigorous academic learning with extensive practical experience.
Students will undertake supervised practice across community, primary care, and hospital settings, providing real-world experience under the guidance of clinical academic pharmacists.
At the end of the programme, applicants will be able to undertake culturally and clinically safe practice with expertise across New Zealand and will be eligible to apply for registration as an Intern Pharmacist with the Pharmacy Council of New Zealand | Te Pou Whakamana Kaimatū o Aotearoa. After completing and passing the Intern Training Programme, graduates will be eligible to apply for registration as a Pharmacist.
The applications for international students are now open. As spaces are limited, the deadline for applications will be 31 September 2025 for 2026. This qualification will be available for a February intake only. |
