Immigration New Zealand (INZ) has advised that it is important that anyone wanting to come to New Zealand to study in the second half of the 2025 academic year does not leave it too late to submit their visa application.
INZ always advises that students should apply for visas at least 3 months in advance of travel, however some students waiting on key study documentation will not be able to apply 3 months ahead. These students should apply as soon as they have all the documents, and they need to be aware late applications may not be processed in time for them to start studying. If an international student is planning to study in New Zealand and their academic results are pending, INZ have advised that students can still initiate visa applications using a conditional Offer of Place. This approach allows INZ to begin assessing their application, potentially granting an Approval in Principle (AIP) if other requirements are met. However, please note that an unconditional Offer of Place is mandatory before a visa can be issued. We’d appreciate you sharing this with your team and any prospective students.
