Initial Teacher Education Interviews

Division of Education are managing the Initial Teacher Interviews slots for the cut off dates for the graduate international applications for January 2026 intakes and would like to emphasise the importance of attending the booked interview slots or moving this booking at least 24 hours beforehand if the time doesn't suit.

Why this matters

  • Empty slots waste opportunities. Many interview times are fully booked, yet some applicants don’t attend. When a slot goes unused without prior notice, we lose the chance to offer it to another candidate who’s ready and eager.

  • Reduces admin load. Links to interviews are sent only a day before. If people request changes within 24 hours, the system no longer allows slot changes, resulting in last‑minute manual rescheduling—a burden on staff.

  • Streamline scheduling efficiency. Last‑minute no‑shows delay the whole process and impact other candidates. Allowing at least a 24‑hour notice gives time for replacements and keeps the system moving smoothly.

Key Messages for Agents & Networks

Please inform applicants of the following:

  1. Always attend or reschedule interviews at least 24 hours in advance if they can’t make them.

  2. Do not rely on last-minute cancellations—they don’t free up slots in time.

  3. Rescheduling within 24 hours is not permitted in the system, which burdens administrative teams.

  4. no show will negatively impact the individual’s ability to continue through the application process
