The University of Queensland has been named Australia’s best university and 30th globally in TIME Magazine’s inaugural edition of the World’s Top Universities of 2026.

UQ performed strongly in the Innovation and Economic Impact indicator, which highlights the contributions of our graduates to global economic decision-making and society, as well as advancements in science and technology.

As Australia’s most awarded university for teaching — including winning Teacher of the Year 7 times — UQ continues to shine through the passion, innovation and commitment our educators bring to every learning experience. Congratulations to the Australian University Teacher of the Year, Associate Professor Roma Forbes who was recognised for her impact on teaching practice, curriculum innovation and policy.

Duolingo English Test (DET) results are now accepted for entry into UQ College programs. This includes the standalone Integrated English program, as well as Bridging English and the Foundation Program, which are direct pathway packaged programs with UQ.

Please check the UQ College website for the minimum DET requirements for each program:

• Foundation Program

• Bridging English

• Integrated English

Note that Duolingo English Test results are only accepted by UQ College and cannot be used for direct entry to The University of Queensland.

Applications are now open for UQ College Foundation Programs commencing February 2027.

• Standard Foundation Program (10 months) → pathway to UQ Semester 1, 2028

• Accelerated Foundation Program (4 months) → pathway to UQ Semester 2, 2027
