Dear Partners
Happy New Year!
We’re pleased to share that the Semester 1, 2026 admissions cycle is approaching its conclusion on an exceptionally strong and encouraging note, with
undergraduate admissions performing particularly well and demonstrating sustained growth. Interest from prospective students continues to rise, and engagement across our key markets has been outstanding. Your ongoing support and partnership remain central to this success, and we’re excited to continue building on this positive momentum as we move into the next phase of the admissions cycle.General Items
Students
VisasAs we prepare for Semester 1, 2026, this is a timely reminder of the critical importance of effectively managing the visa application processes for your students. Early and accurate lodgement is essential to avoid unnecessary delays that could impact students’ ability to commence their studies on time.
Following the introduction of Ministerial Directions, the Australian Government continues to apply priority processing arrangements for student visas.
As a result, student visa processing times may be longer than usual. Current
government advice suggests potential processing timeframes of approximately 4 weeks. We encourage agents and students to take these timelines into account when planning commencement dates and travel arrangements. Please also refer to the University of Sydney visa webpage for more information on visa requirements for enrolment.
We appreciate your continued support in guiding students through a smooth and effective visa application process and look forward
to welcoming your students to our community. If your students have not received an offer by this stage, we encourage them to consider visa processing times and request a deferral to a later intake if applicable. This will allow them additional time for processing and planning, and will help ensure they are not disadvantaged by the limited time remaining before the course start date.
