TOEFL iBT Following recent enquiries, we would like to clarify which TOEFL iBT test formats are currently accepted by at the University of Sydney. Accepted Test Version · The TOEFL iBT test – 0–120 score scale remains the only accepted version for providing evidence of meeting English language proficiency at the University of Sydney. Not Accepted · The new TOEFL iBT test (1–6 score scale) is not accepted at this time. · Until further notice, results reported on the 1–6 scale will not be accepted. Please note that we are reviewing the new test version, and an update will be provided once the Department of Home Affairs makes a decision relating to this test. If we receive TOEFL results on the 1-6 scale, this indicates that the applicant did not select the Australia-specific TOEFL iBT version at the time of booking. Action Required – Please Advise All Applicants Please ensure that all University of Sydney applicants are advised to: · Select and sit the TOEFL iBT Australia-specific (Legacy) test – 0–120 scale, and · Carefully check the test version at the time of booking to avoid selecting the incorrect test. Applicants who have already taken the new 1–6 scale test will be required to re-sit the Australia-specific Legacy TOEFL iBT test. TOEFL team is aware that some applicants applying to the University of Sydney may have sat the new TOEFL iBT test. These applicants can contact TOEFL to request a voucher where required to sit the TOEFL iBT (Australian version) instead.
