We hope you are well and thank you for your continued support. We are writing to inform you of an important update and exciting change to our Postgraduate Bridging Program (Social Work).
From Spring (July) 2026, Western Sydney University will no longer be offering the Postgraduate Bridging program (Social Work) and we will be replacing this course with:
Graduate Certificate in Human Services (1952) CRICOS 120236D – one semester program (Handbook)
Graduate Diploma in Human Services (1951) CRICOS 120235E – two semester program (Handbook)
These two courses will be the new pathways into the Master of Social Work (Qualifying) for students who don’t qualify for direct entry.
Successful completion of the Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma will:
• Provide a guaranteed pathway into the Master of Social Work (Qualifying); and,
• Satisfy the English language requirement for entry into the Master of Social Work (Qualifying) – no further English testing required!
Fee Structure:
Per semester fee for 2026: $17,388
Entry requirements:

Existing Offers and Acceptances…..
Please note:
It may be the case that you already have applications with us for July 2026 intake for PG Bridging Social Work. We will soon be writing to our currents offered and accepted students for the PG Bridging program and details of the content of our message are below:
To Offered students:
Due to our change of course any student with a current offer will have their current offer withdrawn and it will be replaced by a new package offer for the new programs in GC or GD Human Services. Applicants do not need to submit a new application. We will automatically reassess their existing application for entry into the new programs and issue a new offer outlining the program structure, fees and next steps so there is no action required from you at this stage.
To Accepted Students:
As the original program will no longer be delivered, your students may choose one of the following options:
Option 1 – Receive and accept a revised offer
We will reassess the application for one of the new pathway programs — the Graduate Certificate in Human Services (1951) or the Graduate Diploma in Human Services — which lead to the Master of Social Work (Qualifying). If they meet the entry requirements, a revised offer will be issued for them to review and accept.
Option 2 – Withdraw and receive a full refund
Withdraw from the program and receive a full refund of any tuition fees paid.
Option 3 – Request assessment for another program
Request to be assessed for another eligible program at Western Sydney University. Our team can assist them in identifying suitable alternative study options.
We will write to the impacted students and ask them to reply to their email by [insert date] to confirm their preferred option offering them the opportunity to ask any questions or discuss the change.
We encourage you to have them accept their revised offer!
Scholarships
$3,000 Early Acceptance Bursary
For applicants onshore in Australia and for offshore in North Asia and South East Asia an early acceptance bursary is offered of $3,000 AUD. This will be discounted from the acceptance fee for the first program (either GC or GD Human Services).
International Scholarships
Graduate Diploma in Human Services (1952) – As this is a one year program applicants will be assessed for our standard range of merit based bursaries valued at $5,000 or $10,000, if the applicant is onshore in Australia or from offshore North Asia or South East Asia.
If you have any questions or would like to discuss this change, please feel free to contact me.
This change is a great improvement in the offering to applicants who don’t qualify directly to the Master of Social Work (Qualifying). We remain committed to supporting your students in progressing their studies at Western Sydney University.
