Hope you had a lovely Easter break

We apologise for the typo in the initial email sent a couple of weeks ago regarding the new entry requirements for NZCEL programmes.

The entry requirements for NZCEL Applied 3 are an overall IELTS score of 5.0, with no individual band lower than 4.5.

Entry English requirements (Academic IELTS)	Programme	IELTS equivalent upon completion	Gain direct entry to mainstream studies *
Overall 4.5, with no individual band score lower than 4.0	NZCEL Level 3 General	5.0	Level 3 programmes**
Overall 5.0 with no individual band score lower than 4.5	NZCEL Level 3 Applied	5.5	Level 4 programmes**
Overall 5.5, with no individual band score lower than 5.0	NZCEL Level 4	6.0	levels 5 to 7 programmes**
Overall 6.0, with no individual band score lower than 5.5	NZCEL Level 5	6.5	Bachelor of Nursing and other postgraduate programmes **

Note:

* students can gain direct entry to the respective mainstream programmes, provided that they have met the academic requirements already.

**this is a general indication. Some programmes might have higher English requirements.

Intakes for English study are weekly and available for any length (min 3 weeks). However, to gain the NZCEL qualification, students must start in Feb/Jul and attend the full 17 weeks

Brand new students from Greater China, Southeast Asia, and Latin America are eligible for a study grant of NZD 1,500 if they are enrolled in one of the NZCEL programmes in July 2025. The tuition fee for one semester after the study grant discount is NZD 6,820 (equivalent to only $401 per week).

Students do not need language proficiency test scores to apply for admission. They can simply sit for an English Placement Test after arriving in NZ to determine their study level.
