In this edition, we are pleased to share Adelaide University accommodation information, the Adelaide University research strategy, the unveiling of our Aboriginal name and more!
Engineering program updates
Adelaide University has recently removed some majors within our engineering programs to allow for more advanced discipline courses within the curriculum design, aligned with industry best practice, employability outcomes and accreditation. We are pleased to offer a range of in-demand undergraduate engineering degrees, including:
Adelaide University is committed to providing students with in-demand job skills and practical experience through a range of work integrated learning opportunities and access to influential industry partners – increasing their graduate outcome potential globally.
Within our Engineering degrees students will take the Professional Engineer Engagement with Professional Practice course which provides students direct exposure to the engineering field through structured, real-world engagements.
The course consists of:
•
a minimum of 450 hours of work integrated learning which could include internships, projects, fieldwork, networking, conferences, masterclasses and mentorship
•
the Career Development Learning Modules and
•
a final-year research project with an industry client
Accommodation update
Adelaide University student accommodation is now available on our website. Accommodation options include Adelaide University managed student accommodation, Preferred Partner Providers and Residential Colleges.
To coincide with the transition to Adelaide University the following adjustments to branding protocols will come into effect from 1 January 2026.
University managed property • Adelaide University Village (currently referred to as The University of Adelaide Village).
Preferred Partner Provider property • Scape Adelaide University (currently referred to as Scape at The University of Adelaide). • Scape Adelaide Central (sometimes referred to as Scape at UniSA).
Adelaide University Accommodation Service representatives will be visiting Indonesia in late August, and Malaysia, Hong Kong, and mainland China from early September. Further visits are planned from October 2025 through to the end of the year.
Adelaide University announces Aboriginal name
In an Australian university first, Adelaide University has been bestowed a Kaurna name, which has been enshrined in its founding legislation.
Tirkangkaku, meaning Place of Learning, represents the transformative power and potential of education for all and signals our commitment to integrating Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Knowledges across our learning, teaching and research.
Emerged through deep consultation with Elders, academics, and the community we are honoured by this gift.
Adelaide University will be a place for togetherness, excellence and equity, and where the world’s oldest living culture will contribute to cutting-edge discovery. We are a university built on a long history, moving towards a brighter, intertwined future.
Reimagined research for the future
Adelaide University has released its first Research Strategy, set to deliver nation-critical and globally relevant outcomes.
Backed by $500 million per annum in external research revenue, a dedicated $200 million Research Fund from the South Australian Government, more than 180 years of institutional experience, and 5,000 talented researchers, this five-year strategy will accelerate at-scale research and its commercialisation, and advance innovation and industry, balancing both economic imperatives and social licence.
Adelaide University offers a variety of research degrees, including Doctor of Philosophy, Master of Philosophy, Master of Research, Graduate Certificate in Research Design, and Graduate Certificate in Research Skills.

Adelaide University events
Our recruitment team has been busy with agent training events in Beijing and Shanghai and Adelaide University’s first recruitment events in India were held with IDP in Delhi, Ahmedabad and Mumbai. We were also in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam where we hosted a Co-VC Agent Leadership Appreciation lunch and the International Recruitment team provided program training for education partners, school counsellors, and pathway providers.
