In this edition, we are pleased to share a range of exciting updates from Adelaide University. Highlights include our very first QS World University Ranking, the appointment of our new vice-chancellor, an extended application deadline for health programs for the 2026 intake, and updates on our promotion transition from July. We also share a recap of the recent senior executive mission across Southeast Asia.
Adelaide University debuts in the world’s top 100
We are so happy to share that Adelaide University is officially in the global top 100. We claimed 82nd position in the world and 8th nationally in our inaugural institutional ranking in the 2026 QS World University Rankings.
We are incredibly proud that Adelaide University will commence its first year of operations as a world top 100 university and member of Australia’s prestigious and research-intensive Group of Eight (Go8), with a bright future ahead.
We are delighted to announce that Professor Nicola Phillips will be joining us in 2026 as the new Vice Chancellor and President to lead Adelaide University through its formative years.
Professor Phillips brings a depth of knowledge with some 30 years of experience in the higher education sector across Australia and the United Kingdom. She joins us from the University of Melbourne, where she is currently the Provost and has served as both Acting and Interim Vice Chancellor. With strong alignment to Adelaide University’s strategic direction, Professor Phillips will no doubt be a formidable force as we launch this new chapter.
Professor Phillips will commence on 12 January 2026 and we look forward to welcoming her to our University community.
Extended Application Deadline for 2026 Intake – Health Programs
Due to the transition to the new Adelaide University StudyLink International Application system and recent website content updates, there has been a delay in the opening of applications for the 2026 intake. To accommodate this, the Schools have extended the application closing date to Monday 7 July for the following programs:
Earlier this month, our Deputy Vice Chancellor - International and External Engagement Prof Jessica Gallagher joined an international delegation to Cambodia, Vietnam, and the Philippines in Southeast Asia.
Led by Her Excellency the Honourable Frances Adamson AC, Governor of South Australia, the delegation also included university representatives and the StudyAdelaide team.
During the trip, the group held meaningful discussions with key international partners, met with senior Southeast Asian government leaders, and participated in a roundtable discussion with Vietnamese industry and university partners.
We are proud to strengthen our partnerships across Southeast Asia and collaborate on the challenges shaping our shared future.
