The Bonds of Education in a Fragmented World by Professor Jessica Gallagher
In an increasingly fragmented world, Deputy Vice Chancellor – International and External Engagement, Professor Jessica Gallagher explores the vital role of education in building global social cohesion and prosperity – and how Australia, together with partners in Asia, can shape what’s next.
Adelaide is officially one of the world’s top 10 most liveable cities!
Ranked #9 in The Economist’s Global Liveability Index, Adelaide has climbed two spots since last year – a testament to the city’s vibrant culture, safety, and quality of life. As a university deeply connected to the spirit of South Australia, we are proud to call Adelaide home.
Adelaide received a perfect score of 100 in both healthcare and education, along with 96.4 for infrastructure, 95 for stability, and 91.4 for culture and environment. These results reflect the City of Adelaide’s long-standing commitment to sustainability. Since setting a goal in 2015 to become one of the world's first carbon neutral cities, Adelaide remains committed to becoming a climate resilient city, offering students a clean, safe and future-focused place to live, work and study.
International Education Conference in the United States
Last month, we hosted our very first Adelaide University launch event in the US, coinciding with the 2025 NAFSA Conference in San Diego. NAFSA is the world’s largest non-profit association dedicated to international education and exchange, bringing together 11,000+ international educators from 170+ countries.
We were joined at the event by 100+ of our valued partners from institutions around the world, who all play a vital role in supporting future Adelaide University students on their global learning journey.
We are grateful to have had the opportunity to share our global vision with so many in the NAFSA community, and excited to continue building a future where globally engaged students, citizens, and leaders can thrive.
We respectfully acknowledge the Kaurna, Boandik, and Barngarla First Nations Peoples and their Elders past and present, who are the Traditional Owners of the lands that are home to our campuses across South Australia.
