一、重要招生信息更新

1，GSAT now recognised for direct entry from Taiwan

The University of Melbourne has updated its undergraduate entry requirements for students from Taiwan. Effective immediately, the General Scholastic Ability Test (GSAT)—Taiwan’s national secondary school leaving examination—is now accepted as a recognised qualification for direct admission upon graduation from the Taiwan Senior High School Diploma. This change provides an alternative pathway for eligible students, who can now apply without needing the SAT, ACT or AP Exams.

2，Recognition of Luxembourg high school leaving exam 

Effective immediately, the University of Melbourne will recognise the Luxembourg Diplôme de Fin d’Études Secondaires (both Classiques and Générales), commonly known as the Luxembourg high school leaving exam, as a secondary qualification for direct entry into the University.

3，Changes to US high school GPA calculation

Effective immediately, the University of Melbourne will no longer recalculate US High School GPA results internally. Instead, entry eligibility will now be determined using the GPA as reported on the student's final official transcript. This will be assessed together with the SAT or ACT requirements.

4，Removal of personal statement for Melbourne School of Design programs

The Melbourne School of Design has removed the requirement for personal statements for all its graduate programs. From 2026 onwards, no MSD graduate program will require applicants to submit a personal statement.

5，Deadlines extended for graduate coursework programs

Many graduate coursework program deadlines for Semester 1, 2026 have been extended to 30 September 2025 (previously August 2025). Education agents are encouraged to check individual course pages on Study for the most up-to-date information.

6，Important update - Doctor of Optometry

We have an important new update regarding entry requirements for the Doctor of Optometry (OD) at the University of Melbourne.

From 29 July 2025, the GAMSAT, MCAT or OAT is no longer a compulsory requirement for admission to the Doctor of Optometry (OD) program.

This change to entry requirements reduces barriers for students and better aligns with other optometry programs across Australia. Entry to the OD program will be based on academic performance (Weighted Average Mark/WAM) and existing criteria.

What this means for 2026 and 2027 applicants from 29 July 2025:

No entry test (GAMSAT, MCAT, or OAT) is required

Applications will be assessed using WAM only

Applications for Residential College accommodation are now open for Semester 1, 2026. See our website for details on how your students can apply and submit a College application for next year. This year the Colleges awarded $8.3 million in scholarships and bursaries to support our students.

三、Bupa OSHC rate changes

Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) rates for policies purchased through the University with Bupa will change from 12 August 2025. The International Student Acceptance portal will be closed on Monday 11 August 2025 to allow for these updates. During this time, international students will not be able to submit an acceptance form. When the portal reopens on 12 August, the new rates will be displayed and applied to all policies.
