We are excited to help you begin your academic journey and support you as you prepare for university study in New Zealand. As you prepare to choose the elective courses that you will study alongside your core English for Academic Purposes course, to help you make the best choice, we have attached course information packs that give you a taste of what each subject is about. These include short descriptions of the topics covered, the kinds of skills you will build, and how each course connects to different university pathways.

As you read through the options, please take a moment to think carefully about your background and your future goals. Some subjects – like Biology, Design, and Statistics – may look interesting but are more suitable for students who already have some experience in these areas or plan to continue them at university. Choosing courses that match your interests, strengths, and future study plans will give you the best chance of success.
