新-新西兰尼尔森马尔伯勒理工学院-NMIT两项新硕士学位课程将于2026年3月开课
Kia ora and warm new year greetings to you from NMIT!We hope your 2026 is off to an excellent start and we are looking forward to close collaboration with you as we move forward into the next major recruitment season.New Year, New Team Members! Two new team members have joined the NMIT International Development team in the last fortnight. They are replacing Sarah, as she has gone on maternity leave after welcoming her first child to the world at the very end of last year. Dr. Kay Sneddon has been working at NMIT for a number of years in student support and as a master’s degree supervisor. She came to NMIT after a number of years successfully managing international marketing for Waimea College, a local high school in the Nelson region. Kay is picking up one day a week in our team this year to manage the following markets: Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia. Maria Busching also joins the team for four days per week. Maria is originally from Germany, where she worked with the Erasmus programme for a stint, prior to coming to New Zealand. Maria managed the Nelson Multicultural Centre and is committed to cross cultural understanding. Please join us in welcoming Maria and Kay to our team.New Year, New Master’s Degrees!NMIT received final approval to offer two new master’s degrees at the end of last year. Given approvals were slower than expected, and to provide students with the best chance of getting a visa in time, we have decided to push back the first start date of these two master’s degrees to Monday 16 March.Master of Professional AccountingMaster of Information TechnologyNote that we have also launched these programmes with study grants for 2026 start dates.APAIEWill Tregidga will be representing NMIT at APAIE in Hong Kong this February. Nelson’s Rental Market Research: Good Availability and AffordabilityRealestate.co.nz produces research into the New Zealand rental property market: https://news.realestate.co.nz/blog/ew-zealand-rental-property-market-2025-novemberThe November 2025 report has good news for our incoming students seeking rentals in Nelson, with the region recording one of the highest new rental listing increases vs. 2024: an increase of 66.7% in new listings! The average listing price for renting a house has decreased by 1% to $574 per week, this means renting a house in Nelson is on average $105 per week more affordable than Auckland – a very reasonable saving over a full year, and also consider Auckland rentals likely require the extra cost of a commute to campus and the city centre, whereas the city and campus in Nelson are easily walkable from the locations of affordable rentals. As always, please reach out to us if you have any questions or concerns, we are always eager to help you.Warm regards/Ngā mihi nui,Head of International Development Nelson Marlborough Institute of TechnologyTe Whare Wānanga o Te Tauihu o Te Waka a Māuinmit.ac.nz 322 Hardy Street, Nelson, 7010 | Private Bag 19, Nelson 7040CAUTION: This e-mail message and accompanying data may contain information that is confidential and subject to privilege.
